ABOUT US
Vision and Mission
True Hope has a vision that children around the world would have the opportunity to grow up healthy, educated and loved. We have been guided and driven by James 1:27 “Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”
History
In 2005, a small team was mobilized to travel to Mississippi and Alabama to provide relief to the people affected by hurricane Katrina. A single trip grew into many trips, and organizing large teams going to the gulf coast to support recovery and rebuilding. HRS True Hope, was then formed in 2006 to help organize and manage ongoing humanitarian relief for similar disasters.
By 2008, needs for disaster relief and rebuilding declining or were met by other larger organizations, True Hope refocused on impoverished areas of Piedras Negras, Mexico. True Hope took a special interest in orphanages and community projects caring for children. Partnering with a many churches and other non-profits, we have led countless trips to Mexico to provide food, provisions, education assistance and gifts for those who are impoverished or disadvantaged. Our support of Mexico expanded to includes areas to the south and central regions as well as the north in Piedra's Negras.
In 2016, True Hope started to support orphans in Nairobi and Eldoret Kenya with a focus on programs and methods to develop financial sustainability, In addition to direct needs such as food, clothing, medical, and education, True Hope has provided foundation capital construction support such as water wells, dormitories and agricultural programs to generate recurring income and move away from donation constraints.
In 2017, after a major Earthquake in Oaxaca, Mexico, True Hope traveled to the region to assess how True Hope could help those in need and began a relationship with church leaders in Juchitan and Matias Romero Avendano. Initial financial assistance from the first trip helped with immediate needs of those who lost homes and resources in the earthquake and in subsequent years, annual trips provide the opportunity to worship with and encourage the local churches trips and while providing leadership training for adults and teaching materials for children.
In 2023, True Hope continues to impact the region of Oaxaca, Mexico including the cities of Juchitan, Matias Romero, Maceta, Jocotepec and Lalana with a mission trip of 7 from Texas and 16 from Piedras Negras in July and the Annual Great Tamale Project in Piedras Negras in December.
True Hope has been blessed to impact countless lives for God’s Kingdom in the last 18 years. We are excited about what our vision of the future holds, and we are grateful to be in the position and privileged to be able to provide additional hope in the years to come. All of this work is possible with the support of our extensive family of supporters.
