Shelter Children's Girls Dorm Capital Campaign
True Hope has raised funds to build a new girls dormitory at Shelter Children's Home in Ngong, Kenya. This dorm will be very similar to the boys dormitory built a few years ago. The dorm will be dedicated to Joel Holcomb in memory of his dedication to the True Hope mission at Shelter. They broke ground on June 1st. Check out the progress so far!

SHELTER CHILDREN'S HOME
HRS TrueHope partners with Africa Sustaining Angels to support new projects as well as provide a home and education for children who were abandoned, neglected, and/or abused. Inspired by the amazing work of the Director, Mary Muiruri, a group of volunteers known as Africa Sustaining Angels began.
Prior to 2018, the home was 100% dependent on donations to support the children’s needs. Then HRS TrueHope stepped in and created a new operating model driven by sustainability initiatives which generate revenue and reduce operating expenses. Since that time, the home has acquired cattle, goats, chickens, and honey bees. On site, there is a vegetable garden, water tower, and primary school that educates children living at the home as well as many in the community. Bread, eggs, milk, vegetable baskets, honey, and clean water are sold in town to generate revenue.
Today the shelter cares for 150 children and is 75% self-sufficient based on the success of our sustainability projects and program.

BERUR STREET CARE INTERNATIONAL
Berur Street Care International in Eldoret, Kenya began in 2007 to serve the street children. The area is known as one of the poorest in Kenya and for glue sniffing. The staff at Berur Street Care International find street children and offer them and their parents rehabilitation, residence, food, education and a better life. Many of the people served here have scars as they are often targeted and beaten during the night. The glue seems to be an 'escape' from the life they live. Unfortunately, some of the street mothers share glue with their toddlers and children. The children are exposed on a daily basis to violence, glue, pathogens and harmful bacteria from the garbage tip and the river. Thanks to the tireless dedication of the staff at Berur, these children and their families have hope for a better future.
AMANA TRUST
The trust was birthed out of a need for funds and life skills training for youths transitioning from primary school to high school and to higher education from there. Education in Kenya comes at a high cost and Ammana provides the opportunity for orphaned children to obtain an education as a vehicle to a better life. Funds gathered are used to provide tuition, uniforms, lap tops, toiletries, and books and school supplies.
